September!

Hey Everyone,
I haven't blogged in over a month. However, I've completed and submitted my dissertation so my course is officially done. I cant believe the year has come and gone. Crazy how quickly time has flown and its time to move on. I'm feeling nostalgic but its time to face another challenge.
Right now, I'm on relaxation time to plan the next step and get things into perspective. Lazy dayz....

Summer continues

Hey Everyone,
We are already in month of August and my time as a Rotary scholar is coming to end :(
I've been busy doing my final Rotary reports, my dissertation and trying to enjoy my final month in Leeds. I went with the Rotary Club of Roundhay to Wentworth Castle and had lots of fun!

Summer!

Hey everyone,

Its July 16th and I haven't even been to the beach! I've been home working on my dissertation most days and missing the wonderful weather. I think its rule, if ever you have work to do the weather is perfect and when you are free the weather becomes unpredictable. However, I remain determined to go to the beach even if its raining and I must sit on the sand in my raincoat. hahah. It would be a funny sight.

Miss you all

Beautiful Yorkshire

I must admit that I am in love with West Yorkshire, not just Leeds. I been travelling and seeing what West Yorkshire and the beginnings of summer has to offer- absolutely "fantabulous" and I have the pics to prove it!

Ilkey- I like the river (weird enough) as it reminded me of somewhere in Jamaica. Will get back to u on the specific location...

Found this garden at the end of covered passage in the middle of York. How cool!

Awwh York. What can I say? A place of beauty.

Love the many rivers in the UK. This one is question is located in Saltire

Saltire- Had to include a pic of the train tracks at sunset. Love it!

Easter Vacation

Hey everyone,
Its sad that the Easter vacation is almost done :-(
Luckily I spent blissful days at the park, exploring and hanging out with friends. Check out some of the pics below.

YORK: I loved this old town. We went on a sunny day and explored the place. It had many people looking around but the town had this intimate feeling. I left York feeling like I had been in a simpler time with beautiful architecture and small streets.

Cobbled Streets. How quaint!

Tea and Scones at Betty's :-)

HYDE PARK:
Spending endlessly sunny days in the park. This is the life :-)

CHESTER: I was taken to Chester by two wonderful Rotarians, Patricia and Peter. They lived in Chester and were able to take me to all the best places in the town. If only I had the space and time to upload all the wonderful pics. I completely enjoyed my day with them. We even had a picnic by the river- a first for me.

Yep, its been a good Easter. This evening I am off to present at the Rotary Club of Wakefield. Wish me luck!

Springtime

Hey Everyone,
I have written since after Valentine's Day. I am so sorry for not keeping my promise of updating you on my adventures on a fortnightly basis. I wont make any promises this time but will update as often as possible.

Leeds has been great! The trees are no longer naked as they were in winter and the flowers have been coming into full bloom. Its truly wonderful! March was quite hectic for me as I had essays and group assignments to complete. I have also been doing research for my dissertation and all that exciting stuff. Additionally, I have been able to do presentations at Rotary functions so its been a mix of work and pleasure.

Below are some pics :

It's February

Hey Everyone,

Sorry I haven't written in over a month. After returning to school I had assignments and an exam. This meant a few sleepless nights studying, reading and completing assignments. However, that's done. To celebrate I went to Ireland for a week! It was great. I visited the Aran Islands, Galway, Dublin and gave a presentation at the Rotary Club of Dublin. I completely loved it especially Temple Bar... its the place to be :)

Cue in second semester. After all that exploration in Ireland it was back to school. I have continued to do Rotary presentations and visiting clubs across District 1040. Its been one long roadtrip. Luckily, I love roadtrips :)
The constant readings for classes are now familiar and not as worrisome as they once were.
Thats my piece. Rock on!

Happy New Year!

Hey Everyone!
I can't believe its already 2011. Its almost four months since I have been in England... time has really flown. As usual, there is so much to tell so I will merely list the points. They are as follows:

  • I had the opportunity of spending a day in court thanks to one of the Rotarians that allowed me to sit in during the proceedings. It was very interesting and informative. I must therefore say a big thank you to Rotarian Scott Wolstenholme for making it possible!

  • The Rotaract and Rotary Christmas parties were great fun.

  • I spent Christmas in the United Kingdom. It was my first time spending Christmas away from my family and its was different but completely fun. It was wonderful to have received a Christmas sock filled with gifts. The experience was wonderful as I had only see in it movies before. This tradition is something I will definitely introduce to my family in Jamaica. A big thank you to Mrs. Parchment for opening her home to me this Christmas as without her I would not have experienced a true British Christmas.

  • I spent the last days of 2010 in Scotland for Hogmanay. It was fabulous! I loved the excitement of beginning a New Year in Edinburgh. I fell in love with the old city, its character and beautiful scenery. I attempted to climb Arthur's seat (Extinct Volcano in Edinburgh) but only made it halfway. It was still fun :)

Best of luck for the New Year.
